Next door to the Martin-Gropius-Bau, and fronted along Niederkirchnerstraße by a slowly deteriorating section of the Berlin Wall, is the Topographie des Terrors (the Topography of Terror Documentation Center). I visited the last time I was in Berlin, and I went in again today; not so much to read of any atrocities I might have missed as to pay my respects, so to speak. I still can’t understand how some of the surviving perpetrators were punished so lightly, if at all.
There is now a small and appropriate café just away from the main display, which is a good place to sit quietly.
