For the last few weeks – it feels like months – I've been reliving Grand Tour I as I prepare an illustrated talk for this Friday, 12 November, at Hertford Camera Club. In fact I selected the images, did any necessary further processing and put together the first draft of the show before setting out on Grand Tour II in May. Something like 750 I think, with about 200 or so needing correction for distortion, colour balance or shadow detail.
The show is put together on the Mac using Keynote – Apple's superb presentation program – with much time spent fine-tuning dissolve speeds and putting together short sequences. Well, old audio visual habits die hard! It's been difficult to squeeze five weeks into less than 100 minutes, and some destinations have had to be cut. It will still be a race against the clock though (mustn't delay the tea break!) and I hope my voice (and brain) will hold out.
I think I now have as many speaker notes as I need and can cope with, and it's just a case of rehearsing and rehearsing. If you live in the Hertford area and have nothing better to do this Friday, you're very welcome to come along.
